Manhattan
Manhattan has 664 Citi Bike stations with 31,057 docks between them.
How Citi Bike directions work, dock to dock
Choose the Citi Bike option in the planner and the whole trip is one set of directions: the walk to a bike, the ride, and the walk from the dock. You unlock and pay in the Citi Bike app, as usual.
A dock with bikes near you
The route starts with a short walk to the nearest Citi Bike station that has a bike waiting, with the live count on the pin so you are not walking to an empty dock.
The SuperSafe™ route
Protected bike lanes and quiet streets first, busy roads crossed at signals, turn by turn with audio, and every choice explained when you ask why.
A dock with space near your destination
The ride ends at a Citi Bike station with free docks close to where you are going, so you are never circling for somewhere to return the bike.
Walk the last block
The final step is the walk from the dock to the door, timed and on the map, so the arrival time is the time you actually arrive.

Which borough has the most Citi Bike stations?
Brooklyn has the most, with 835 stations and 21,221 docks, followed by Manhattan (664), Queens (487), Bronx (358) and New Jersey (108).
| Borough | Stations | Docks | Docks per station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brooklyn | 835 | 25 | |
| Manhattan | 664 | 47 | |
| Queens | 487 | 23 | |
| Bronx | 358 | 21 | |
| New Jersey | 108 | 19 |
Brooklyn has the most stations and Manhattan the most docks, because Manhattan's stations are bigger: an average of 47 docks against Brooklyn's 25. Jersey City and Hoboken are Citi Bike's two New Jersey districts, counted together. Staten Island has no Citi Bike.
More than one way to ride a Citi Bike
The planner offers a pedal bike and an e-bike option for the same trip, each from the nearest station that has one.
Citi Bike e-bikes
Docked e-bikes · Live at every stationThe planner's Citi Bike e-bike option starts at the nearest station with an e-bike waiting and is timed at e-bike speed, so you can compare it with the pedal bike before you walk to a dock.

Citi Bike in New York City, answered
Can Cyclemate give directions for Citi Bike?
Yes. Cyclemate routes a Citi Bike ride dock to dock: a station with bikes available near you, the SuperSafe route along bike lanes and quiet streets, and a station with free docks near your destination, with a short walk at each end. The directions are free; you pay Citi Bike for the ride in its own app.
How many Citi Bike stations are there in New York City?
Citi Bike had 2,452 installed stations with 73,057 docks on October 6, 2026: 2,344 across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, and 108 more in Jersey City and Hoboken. There are no stations on Staten Island.
Which borough has the most Citi Bike stations?
Brooklyn, with 835 stations. Manhattan has 664 stations but the most docks, 31,057, because its stations are bigger. Queens has 487 stations and the Bronx 358.
Does Cyclemate show how many bikes are at a Citi Bike station?
Yes. The counts come from the live Citi Bike feed, refreshed every few minutes, so the planner shows the bikes and e-bikes waiting at the station you start from and the free docks at the one you end at, and the map shows the same counts for every station.
Can I plan a Citi Bike e-bike route?
Yes. Alongside the Citi Bike option, the planner shows a Citi Bike e-bike option that starts at the nearest station with an e-bike available and is timed at e-bike speed, so you can compare the two before you walk to a dock.
Is the route different on a Citi Bike?
The streets are the same. Every route is a SuperSafe route, chosen for protected bike lanes and quiet streets over busy avenues. What changes on a Citi Bike is where the ride starts and ends: at a dock with a bike, and at a dock with space.
What is Night Mode?
Night Mode is how Cyclemate routes you after dark. Once the sun has set, SuperSafe prefers streets with lighting, stops sending you through parks that lock their gates, and avoids unlit cut-throughs, while still keeping you on quiet streets. It switches on by itself, based on the time of your ride.
Where can I park my own bike in New York City?
At any of the more than 46,000 public bike racks on the Cyclemate map. Choose Navigate to parking in the planner and the directions end at a rack near your destination instead of at the door.
Is Cyclemate free for Citi Bike directions?
Yes. Directions, turn-by-turn navigation and the live station map are free for Citi Bike and for your own bike, on iPhone, Android and the web.
Notes and sources
The stations come from Citi Bike's public GBFS feed, the same feed the Cyclemate app reads every few minutes for the live bike and dock counts on its map and in its directions. We pulled the station list on October 2026 and kept the stations the feed marks installed, so a station that was being moved or built that day is not counted. Citi Bike adds and moves stations through the year, so the figures drift a little between pulls.
Citi Bike's feed groups stations into a New York district and two New Jersey districts, not boroughs. For the borough table, each New York station is assigned to the borough of its nearest public bike rack in the NYC Department of Transportation's rack inventory, which places a waterfront station in the borough it stands in rather than the one across the river. The dock counts are the feed's published station capacity, summed.
For the streets between the stations, see the New York City safety map, and for the other US systems, Bay Wheels in San Francisco and Metro Bike in Los Angeles.
Spotted a station that has moved? Tell us and we will check the feed.
