How the Apple Health sync works

One switch, then every navigated ride is a workout. No second app to open, no timer to remember, and the route is saved with it.

  1. Switch it on once

Open Settings in Cyclemate, turn on Apple Health and allow the permissions iOS asks for. It stays on from then.

  2. Ride with turn-by-turn

Pick a destination and start the ride. Your iPhone records the GPS track while Cyclemate talks you through the SuperSafe™ way.

  3. Arrive, and it is saved

The ride lands in Apple Health as an Outdoor Cycle workout: distance, duration and the route, drawn on the workout's map in Fitness.

  4. Delete a ride, it goes too

Remove a ride from your Cyclemate history and the matching workout is deleted from Apple Health, so the two never drift apart.

Write only

We write your rides. We never read your Health data.

Cyclemate asks iOS for permission to share three things and nothing else. It requests no read access, so your heart rate, sleep, weight and every other record in Health stays where it is.

Saved to Apple Health

  • Outdoor Cycle workout, with its start and end time
  • Cycling distance
  • Workout route, as a GPS track

Never touched

  • No heart rate or calories written
  • No read access to any Health data
  • Nothing written until you switch it on

SuperSafe™ navigation

Turn-by-turn directions built for city cycling

SuperSafe™ weighs every street for traffic, junctions, lighting, roadworks and rider reports, then talks you through the calm way there. The map shows what it is weighing.

Cyclemate and Apple Health: your questions

Does Cyclemate sync with Apple Health?

Yes. On iPhone, every ride you navigate with Cyclemate is saved to Apple Health as an Outdoor Cycle workout with its distance, duration and GPS route, and it counts towards your Exercise ring. Switch it on once in the app’s settings and every ride after that is saved automatically when you arrive.

What does Cyclemate save to Apple Health?

Three things: an Outdoor Cycle workout with its start and end time, the cycling distance, and the route as a GPS track, which the Fitness app draws on the workout’s map. Cyclemate does not write heart rate or calories.

Does Cyclemate read my health data?

No. Cyclemate only writes to Apple Health. It asks iOS for permission to share workouts, cycling distance and workout routes, and requests no read access to anything in the Health app.

How do I turn on Apple Health in Cyclemate?

Open Settings in the Cyclemate app, switch on Apple Health, and allow the permissions iOS asks for. The sync is off until you turn it on. If you decline and change your mind later, open the Health app, then Profile, Privacy, Apps and Cyclemate to re-enable it.

What happens to Apple Health when I delete a ride?

Deleting a ride in Cyclemate also deletes the matching workout from Apple Health, so your workout list never shows a ride you have removed. A ride with no recorded distance is not saved in the first place.

Does Cyclemate sync with Google Health Connect on Android?

No. Apple Health exists only on iPhone, and Cyclemate has no Health Connect sync on Android yet. Ride history inside Cyclemate, with the map and stats for every ride, is the same on both platforms.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. The iPhone records the GPS track while Cyclemate navigates, and the workout is saved from the phone when the ride ends. Nothing has to be started on a watch.

Is the Apple Health sync free?

Yes. Apple Health sync is part of the free app, alongside SuperSafe directions and turn-by-turn navigation with audio.
