Introducing Night Mode: cycling directions built for riding after dark
An industry first: Cyclemate now factors in the time of day, routing you down quiet, well-lit streets after dark.

We're really excited to announce an industry first: Night Mode!
Now, when providing directions we'll take into account the date and time to decide whether to use our night-time routing engine. When on you'll be navigated through streets that actually have street lamps — while still prioritizing quiet roads that are safer for cyclists. This means that we'll no longer give you directions through closed parks at night.
We'll still show a few options for you to choose from and our summary will tell you how that impacts the quietness (safety) of the roads as well as the brightness. You can also plan ahead by selecting a different date or time.
This update coincides with a few other releases — Dark Mode (simply toggle your device's dark mode), improved audio directions, and a new Explore map that shows all the datasets we're using to give you the safest bike directions out there.
Night Mode is now available in London, coming soon to our other cities in the coming weeks. As always, we'd love your feedback. Simply reply to this email or DM us.
Cheers, The Cyclemate team
